OREANDA-NEWS. The signing ceremony of the agreement on management of the biggest assets of SOCAR in Turkey - Petkim terminal - was held on February 22.
The document was signed between Petkim Company and Dutch APM Terminals Company. Under the document, signed by SOCAR Tьrkiye’s head and Petkim holding’s chairman Kenan Yavuz, deputy head of the company Samir Karimli and APM Terminals (APMT) director for mergers and acquisitions Theo Dersigni, APMT will manage the terminal for 28 years. The first phase of investment in the container terminal will be completed in 2015 and the second one - in 2016. Investments of Petkim Limanзэlэk Ticaret will total USD 300 million, while APMT will undertake costs on the purchase of machinery and equipment.

The terminal’s annual capacity is 1.5 million TEU, but then it will increase up to 4 million TEU.

During the ceremony, it was mentioned that new container terminal will save time loss on Pire and Alexandria terminals and will contribute to huge income for Turkish industrialists. It is expected that the upgraded port of Petkim holding is going to become the region’s largest center on integration and logistics of cargo.
