OREANDA-NEWS. Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, has successfully completed check assembly of the VVER-1000 reactor vessel for the second energy block of Rostov Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

The results were checked by the commission composed of representatives from Rostov NPP, JSC NIAEP (general contractor for NPP building), CJSC Atomstroyexport, FSUE Bezopasnost and Izhorskie Zavody specialists.

The check assembly of the reactor vessel internals and the cover of the upper unit is one of the final stages in the manufacturing process of the reactor vessel prior to delivery to the customer. During the check assembly the placement of vessel internals need to be accomplished and all required parameters need to be proved.

The set of the reactor vessel into the energy block №3 of Rostov NPP is planned for June 2013.

Rostov NPP is a subsidiary of JSC “Rosenergoatom Group”. The enterprise is situated on the board of Tsymliansk reservoir, 13,5 km away from Volgodonsk. Two energy blocks are equipped with VVER-1000 reactors with installed power of 1000MW. The energy block №1 is set into industrial operation in 2001, the energy block №2 – in December 2010. Blocks with number 3 and 4 are under construction.

Izhorskiye Zavody produces reactor equipment (vessel internals and the cover of the upper unit) and also support plate and locking ring for the 4th block of Rostov NPP.
