OREANDA-NEWS. Power Machines OJSC and ZAO Rusatom Service have signed a contract to repair and supply power equipment for the sixth unit of Kozloduy NPP, Bulgaria.  This is the first contract concluded within the framework of an agreement signed between the companies in 2012 and aimed at collaboration on the markets of Bulgaria, Armenia and other countries.

According to the contractual terms Power Machines will carry out works on upgrading the rotor of a 1000 MW turbogenerator and supply a new turbogenerator stator including spare parts sets for the turbogenerator stator and exciter to the plant. Besides, Power Machines will provide supervision services during installation of the equipment supplied. The equipment is to be delivered to Kozloduy NPP site in Q2 2014, and the installation works are to be completed in Q3 2014.

The upgrade will result in extended service life of the power unit and the new stator will have an increased electrical capacity of 1100 MW.

The hydrogen-to-water cooled turbogenerators produced by Power Machines in the 1990s are being operated as part of turbo- units installed at the fifth and sixth power units of Kozloduy NPP. Besides, Power Machines successfully completed the replacement of condensers at the fifth and sixth power units of Kozloduy NPP in 2003 and 2004. A new design of tube systems with tubes made of stainless steel and efficient modular layout of tube bundles was used in the condensers produced by Power Machines. Subsequent operation proved high reliability of the condensers and eliminated the need for using a condensate purification plant, as well as allowed to increase the capacity of each turbo-unit to 7.9 MW and made possible to receive steam at loads of up to 1100 – 1160 MW.

ZAO Rusatom Service is a subsidiary of the Rosatom State Corporation. It provides maintenance and repair, as well as upgrade services for Russian design NPPs installed abroad.
