OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2013. Cargo carriers of all kinds transported 649.9 thou. t in February, 72.5% up as compared with January and 47.3% up as compared with last February. The growth in motor car transportation was the most dynamic and highest.

The volume of motor car transportation grew by 22.6% to 533.4 thou. t. The most amounts of cargo were transported by companies from Chisinau and Balti (62.1% and 8.8% respectively) and by carriers from regions of Nisporeni(5.8%), Straseni (2.7%), Taraclia (2.6%), Ialoveni (2.4%), Edinet (1.9%), Anenii Noi (1.8%), Hincesti (1.7%), Cimislia (1.5%), Soroca (1.5%), Floresti (1.1%), and Gagauzia (1.5%).

Railway cargo transportation increased by 12.9% to 493.1 thou. t. in January- February, 2013.

The biggest share of all cargoes loaded at railway stations of Moldova fell on crops and flour production and made up 59.4% against 38.8% in January-February, 2012; it is followed by ferrous metal and scrap (15% against 15.4%) and building materials and cement (3% against 9.3%). In January-February, 2013 cargo was not transported by river, air cargo transportation declining 22.2% to 0.2 thou. t.
