OREANDA-NEWS. In January-February 2013, Azerbaijan exported about 233 million kilowatt / hours of electricity according to customs declarations compared to about 12 million kilowatt / hours in January-February 2012, the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan said on Thursday.

According to the report, in January-February, Azerbaijan exported electricity totaling approximately USD 9.2 million compared to USD 702,100 in January-February 2012.

In January-February 2013, JSC Azerenergy (electricity generation and distribution in Azerbaijan) generated four billion kilowatt / hours of electricity compared to about 4.3 billion kilowatt / hours in January-February 2012. Last year Azerenergy generated more than 21.3 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity compared to about 20 billion kilowatt / hours in 2011.

The capacity of the power plants owned by Azerenergy exceeds 6,000 megawatts. Azerenergy has more than 200 substations with a capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kilovolt ampere, as well as 6 hydropower and 13 thermal power plants.
