OREANDA-NEWS. A business meeting of the Governor of the region Vasiliy Yurchenko and the President of the TVEL Fuel Company Yuriy Olenin took place in Novosibirsk. The main issues of the discussion were: the development of innovation cluster of non-nuclear industries on the basis of NZKK OJSC / NCCP OJSC, competitive growth of the plant's production, retooling and modernization of the manufacturing facilities and the creation of industrial and technological park on the corporate premises.

During the meeting Vasiliy Yurchenko highlighted the issue of effective performance of the TVEL Fuel Company’s management as well as that of OJSOJSC “Novosibirsky zavod khimkontsentratov” / JSC “Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant” aimed at increasing the level of competitive production output and expanding the delivery to the foreign markets, ensuring a sustainable economic performance of the enterprise, retooling and modernization of the existing manufacturing facilities and implementation of new technologies as well as improving cooperation in all the business dimensions. By 2020, the production area at NZKK OJSC / NCCP OJSC is to be reduced by 4 times due to the nuclear production concentration in a single group of buildings.

In his turn, the President of TVEL OJSC, while speaking about the prospects of the enterprise, informed that during the next ten years the Fuel Company will allocate about 16 bln rubles of investments for the purpose of non-nuclear industries’ development. Nowadays the plant makes major efforts in this area and implements a number of innovative projects. One of them is "The cathode material" project which is realized together with the participation of "Industrial Innovations" LLC and "ROSNANO" OJSC. The objective is to launch import-substituting industrial production of cathode material based on lithium iron phosphate for lithium-ion batteries. "We plan to have an annual production output of about 3,500 tons by 2015", - noted Yuriy Olenin.

NZKK OJSC / NCCP OJSC modernized the production of zeolite catalysts for the oil refining industry having invested 2,000,000 rubles in 2011-2012. As a result, the nominal production capacity has increased up to 180 tons per year with a 20-30% growth opportunity without additional investments.

Another project is the production of uranium-aluminum targets for radiation medicine. Last year, within the contract signed with the Scientific Research Institute of Atomic Reactors (NIIAR), NZKK OJSC / NCCP OJSC delivered several thousand of targets for the purpose of radioisotopes Mo-99 production. “OJSOJSC “Novosibirsky zavod khimkontsentratov” / JSC “Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant” got engaged in the activities in 2011 after the first pilot batch of targets had been delivered by the end of that year, - clarified Konstantin Vergazov, the director-general of the enterprise, at the meeting with the Governor. – Currently the construction of the "targets" is modernized and the mass production of the latest product version has been launched.” The project’s potential is significant - molybdenum-99 is in demand in the world market. NIIAR has already launched the first line of these products production based on high-enriched uranium for the delivery of the agent into the world network by foreign partners. We plan to create the second line using low-enriched uranium. Moreover, in 2013 the opening of the Federal high-technology radiological medicine center is expected. The center located in Dimitrovgrad will include two medical divisions of proton and radionuclide therapy for the treatment of cancer patients – up to 40,000 persons a year.

During the meeting the Governor of the Novosibirsk region gave a promise to render assistance in attracting outside investors into the NZKK Industrial Park. "Together with the management of the TVEL Fuel Company and NZKK OJSC / NCCP OJSC we have discussed the issue of using the plant area which nowadays has a very big potential for allocating new industries and new enterprises that are not related to the NZKK’s profile and that will not be subject to specific safety and security requirements", - commented Vasiliy Yurchenko.

Summing up the results of the meeting, the Governor charged Sergei Semka, the Minister of industry, trade and entrepreneurial development of the Novosibirsk region, with a task to hold an offsite meeting of the Novosibirsk Entrepreneur Association at NZKK OJSC / NCCP OJSC in June 2013.

Today, on April 25, 2013, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Oleg Ostapenko visited the industrial site of NZKK OJSC / NCCP OJSC. The President of the TVEL Fuel Company Yuriy Olenin made a point of this meeting and informed that the key topic of discussion would be the manufacturing of high-technology special purpose products for the needs of the military-industrial complex. "We need to apply our expertise in order to reduce the prime cost of special purpose products. There are all the necessary prerequisites for that: the nuclear industry, as well as the military-related enterprises, is distinguished by high production standards and very tough terms of acceptance. In addition, the energy industry is unique in that it has never stopped developing even for a moment", - he informed.
