OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2013. A FAS delegation led by Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS, Andrey Tsarikovskiy, visited the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen business and partner relations with Vietnam Competition Authority under the framework of the current Memorandum of Cooperation, and to obtain information and documents related to investigating a cartel on the market of supplying Vietnamese fish products to Russia.

In Hanoi the members of FAS delegation held negotiations with top-officers of Vietnam Competition Authority, National Agro – Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam.

FAS officers also visited Ho Chi Minh City, where they had meetings with representatives of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) andVietnam Executive of Seafood Export to Russia Market.

“The Vietnamese colleagues expressed their desire to increase supplies of fish products to the Russian market In particular, executive officers of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam were in favor of developing cooperation with Russia in this field by removing administrative barriers and expanding the number of market players”, said Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS, Andrey Tsarikovskiy.

“In the near future the investigation of the cartel on the market of Vietnamese fish products will be completed” added the Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department, Alexander Kinev. “It will be encouraged by the measures we have agreed upon with our Vietnamese colleagues and by the information obtained from them”.
