OREANDA-NEWS. August 14, 2013. The head of the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CCI), Gheorghe Cucu, today met the economic and trade adviser of the Chinese embassy in Moldova, Xu Tongkai. The sides broached the boosting of the bilateral cooperation relations, the CCI press service has reported.

Gheorghe Cucu stressed the Moldovan entrepreneurs’ interest in the Chinese market, which is big and has a huge potential. “To stimulate the initiation and development of partnerships between business people from Moldova and China, we have carried out more activities meant for business environment representatives during this year. The CC hosted delegations of entrepreneurs from China, presentations, visits at exhibitions, meetings took place. We are grateful to the Embassy of China in Moldova for the provided support and we are open for collaboration,” Gheorghe Cucu underlined.

The sides discussed the fostering of the inter-chamber cooperation and possibility to organise a Moldovan-Chinese business forum in Chisinau next October. They also tackled problems faced by Moldovan economic agents in their trade with China and ways to settle them.

Xu Tongkai emphasised the good relations between China and Moldova, and assured the CCI of support on behalf of the diplomatic mission.

Data by the National Statistics Bureau shows that, in January-May 2013, Moldova imported goods worth 183.6 million dollars from China, that is by 18 per cent more against the same period last year. At the same time, the export of Moldovan goods to the Chinese market stood at 1.9 million dollars, up by 35 per cent against the first five months of 2012.
