OREANDA-NEWS. The first well has come on-stream at the second multiple well pad at Novoport field. Its daily flow rate has exceeded 400 tons of oil obtained via natural drive. The well is horizontal, and the drilling of two other similar wells at the same pad will be complete in September. Pilot production using various methods and drives will help determine the best depletion system for this area which contains the greatest concentration of the field's reserves-over 20 percent of the total amount.

The first oil was produced at the field in August 2012 during testing of a producing well drilled at the field's first multiple well pad.

At present, infrastructure building at Novoport is underway. Construction of a pipeline to the onshore complex near Kamenny cape has started. Once commercial development of the field begins, oil will be shipped via that pipeline to the sea. A LACT unit is being built as part of the transshipment complex. An arctic oil loading terminal is being designed. The field's central gathering facility tanks have been successfully tested. The first line of the central gathering facility has a design capacity of 400,000 tons per year.
