OREANDA-NEWS. In July 2013 ten 1st course masters students pursuing high-demand degrees in “Engineering for biotech and pharmaceutical industries” at ‘TPU - R-Pharm’ Education Center “Academy of pharmaceutical and biotech industries” completed an internship program at State-of-the-art Manufacturing Site of Finished Dosage Forms in Yaroslavl. The internship was supported by employees of R-Pharm’s head office, State-of-the-art Manufacturing Site of Finished Dosage Forms in Yaroslavl, R&D and Manufacturing Site of Active Pharmaceutical Substances “Farmoslavl” and facility on solid dosage forms packaging ‘ORTAT”.

The students started their familiarization with R-Pharm Group from introductory lectures and trainings dedicated to ethics in pharmaceutical industry, teamwork skills development and current positions of biotech industry in Russia and beyond. Also the students visited company manufacturing sites and enjoyed entertainment program that included visits to Volkov Russian State Academic Theater of Drama, Tereshkova Cultural Center and various sights of Yaroslavl, Rostov and Kostroma. The next stage of the internship included familiarization with key departments of State-of-the-art Manufacturing Site of Finished Dosage Forms in Yaroslavl, including: manufacturing department, quality control and inspection department and technological department. The students studied drugs manufacturing technologies, work procedures for various manufacturing lanes, documentation rules for biotech and pharmaceutical factories, technical processes and basic principles of QMS and GMP. On the final stage the students attended lectures on “Good Clinical Practice” and “Clinical and pre-clinical trials. Review”.

Ivan Baranov, a master student at “TPU - R-Pharm”, gave very positive feedback to the internship and highlighted non-standard approach to education: “We studied all business aspects of the company where we would start working in 2014. The internship gave us a chance to see a real factory equipped with hi-tech equipment! I believe it will help us to make the right choice in future career. Now we need to fill some knowledge gaps following the results of tests and interviews. Thanks a lot to all our tutors who showed us the way to go!”
