Pre-Employment Background Screening from Risk Assessment Group

The results of a recent national online survey of small business owners conducted by The UPS Store indicate more than 75 percent of small business owners rely on outside partners to fill gaps in expertise and more than half said they outsource to effectively manage time constraints.

The most commonly outsourced tasks are those that do not require intimate knowledge of the business, such as website hosting, telecommunication solutions and credit card processing.

"We know firsthand the kinds of challenges small business owners face, and we offer solutions that work," said Michelle Van Slyke, vice president of marketing and small business solutions at The UPS Store. "Our goal is to make it easier for small business owners to run their day-to-day operations by working with trusted experts like The UPS Store and our vendor partners."

Nancy Hart, for example, is a small business owner in Kingsport, Tenn., who relies on the support of experts to help her operate and grow her business. "My advice to other small business owners is: If you know how to do it, do it. If you don't, find someone who does."

Nancy relies on her local UPS Store as an extension of her team for printing, packing, shipping and faxing needs.

In determining the right service provider, The UPS Store found that small business owners like to do their own homework as well as rely on recommendations from professionals. Three-fourths of those surveyed claiming to do their own online research, and 67 percent look for recommendations from professionals.
