OREANDA-NEWS. December 04, 2013. This November SORAINEN was happy to have Veiko-Joel Kokk join the much awarded Banking & Finance Team. Veiko-Joel comes from Eesti Pank, the central bank of the Republic of Estonia, where he worked for 14 years, his last position being Head of Legal Services of the Administrative Department.

While at Eesti Pank, he was a member of the Legal Task Force that prepared adoption of the euro in Estonia. Veiko-Joel has a strong background, having been involved in drafting most legislation in the financial field eg the Eesti Pank Act, the Financial Supervision Authority Act, the Credit Institutions Act, the Payment Institutions and E-money Institutions Act, the Securities Market Act and the Investment Funds Act.

In addition, he advised the EU funded assistance programme at the National Bank of Serbia to strengthen its institutional capacity and was a member of the Legal Committee of the European System of Central Banks 2006-2013. Today, Veiko-Joel is also a member of the council of the NASDAQ OMX Tallinn Arbitration Court. Before joining Eesti Pank, Veiko-Joel worked for the Securities Supervision Authority and Hansapank (currently Swedbank).

SORAINEN has been awarded the title of "Baltic Law Firm of the Year" at the International Financial Law Review European Awards for four years – 2013, 2012, 2010 and 2009 – for advising on the most complex and innovative international transactions in the areas of debt, equity and capital markets, project financing, restructuring and mergers & acquisitions.
