OREANDA-NEWS.   AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been awarded a contract with Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) to provide Project Engineering and Management Services for the Mina Al Ahmadi, Mina Abdullah and Shuaiba oil refineries in Kuwait.

The five-year call-off contract, which has an optional one-year extension, is worth up to 72 million Kuwaiti Dinars (approximately Ј158 million). It was won in competitive tender and follows AMEC’s successful delivery of the previous contract held since 2007.

AMEC will be responsible for a range of engineering and management services including feasibility studies, front end engineering design (FEED), Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services and training of Kuwaiti engineers. The contract also involves providing studies and FEEDs to KNPC’s local marketing and projects department on a call-off basis for its in-country petroleum storage and transportation facilities.

“I am delighted that KNPC have again selected AMEC to deliver this important work. This is a testament to our relationship since 2007 and our ability to apply our global design, engineering and project management expertise to deliver complex projects anywhere in the world,” said Alan Armstrong, AMEC’s Operations Director in Kuwait. “These refineries and KNPC’s local marketing assets are strategically significant in Kuwait’s energy security and in providing revenues from their hydrocarbons exports.”
