OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2013. The draft was presented for review to all representatives of airlines, main partners, and citizens in the centre of the departure hall of the airport complex. It presents concrete consistent steps of the airport concessionaire - company Avia Invest in the field of development and investment in the airport infrastructure.

All the plans for transformation and development of the airport are stipulated by the current fast-moving situation in the segment of air services and are based on the latest technologies and advanced achievements in the field of development of ground infrastructure for air transport. It reflects the current state of infrastructure and perspectives of the airport’s development for the next 20 years previously presented by the Vice-President for strategy and development of the Khabarovsk airport Tatiana Semenova at the press conference.

The ideas presented on the draft are the result of close cooperation between the Avia Invest experts with foreign and Moldovan consulting and engineering companies: Airport Consulting Vienna (Austria), Hochtief AirPort GmbH (Germany), Arhiconi Grup (Moldova), Ramboll (Denmark) and Urbanproiect (Moldova). The draft also shows the infrastructure elements, which in the coming years will significantly change the appearance of Chisinau international airport. Implementation of the project on the airport concession provides the investments totaling 244 million euro, which is 14 million euro more than the size of the investment proposed within the framework of the technical proposal of the airport’s concession.

In parallel with implementation of all stages of reconstruction and modernization of the airport, Avia Invest continues to promote Chisinau airport during the direct negotiations with the airlines, at specialized international platforms, conferences and forums. Within the framework of negotiations with the airports and airlines main attention is paid to the fact of Moldova’s accession to the Single European aviation area, abolition of bilateral agreements, and liberalization of aviation market.

Due to the attractive policy of Chisinau international airport on stimulation of the airlines, actively promoted by Avia Invest, it was possible to attract new airlines - Wizz Air and flydubai, as well as contribute to opening new air destinations by the companies Carpatair and Meridiana Fly. During negotiations it was already possible to sign a bilateral cooperation agreement with the airport Manas (Kyrgyzstan).

The agreement stipulates interaction, exchange of experience and joint attraction of air carriers in order to develop transit passenger traffic to Europe through Chisinau. The main objective of the concession is the increase in passenger traffic through the Chisinau airport by passenger transit from the Far East, Siberia, Urals, and Asia to EU countries.

According to the forecasts of the concessionaire, based on the conclusions of international experts, by 2025 passenger traffic of Chisinau airport will reach 3 million passengers a year, and the concessionaire will be ready to provide necessary infrastructure and meet all modern international standards of service.
