OREANDA-NEWS.  November 2013 turned out to be a record month for Cargolux with unprecedented tonnage and revenues. The airline carried over 74,000 tonnes of freight on its worldwide network, a 27% increase compared to November 2012 and achieved revenues in excess of USD  200 million. This makes November 2013 the best month in the history of Cargolux. Traffic on the airline’s European and Asian routes, especially Hong Kong, was particularly strong during the industry’s peak period.

Cargolux benefited from the improvement in the global air cargo market that, according to the latest IATA figures, grew in all world regions with the exception of Africa. For October, IATA notes an FTK growth of 4% year-on-year while freight volumes increased 1.3% globally from September to October. Cargolux itself achieved an FTK growth in excess of 15%, compared to the previous year, for the year to 31st October and this is expected to further improve with November’s performance.

However, IATA notes that while there is some evidence that the decline in load factors has stabilized, yields continue to remain under pressure.
