OREANDA-NEWS. April 03, 2014. The ExxonMobil Foundation announced the 30 Dallas County nonprofit agencies to receive grants through the 2014 ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program. The eight-week summer program provides assistance to nonprofit agencies while enabling college students to gain valuable work experience and a better understanding of the important role of nonprofit organizations.

“Nonprofit agencies provide vital community services, especially during the summer when children are out of school,” said Suzanne McCarron, president of the ExxonMobil Foundation. “In addition to helping these agencies realize their mission, the Community Summer Jobs Program aims to foster college students’ appreciation for the nonprofit sector, while also offering them opportunities to develop their skills.”

Paid internship positions engage students in a broad range of activities, such as coordinating camp programs for underprivileged children and developing marketing campaigns. In addition to daily internship duties, students also receive professional development and participate in a group service project. Qualified college students interested in gaining hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector are encouraged to apply.

To be eligible, applicants must be current undergraduate students returning to college as a full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) sophomore, junior or senior in the fall of 2014. Interested students may contact the selected agencies, listed below, to request applications and learn more about available opportunities, or visit csjpdallas.org.

Since 1990, the ExxonMobil Foundation has contributed nearly USD4 million to fund the program in Dallas, subsidizing nearly 1,600 internships and benefitting more than 330 agencies.

Since the program began in 1971 in New York City, the ExxonMobil Foundation has provided nearly USD 19 million to support more than 7,600 community summer job internships across the country.
