OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2014. OJSC "Byelorussian Steel Works" - management company of "Byelorussian Metallurgical Company" holding" and the bank of AKA Ausfuhrkredit-Gesellschaft mbH (Frankfurt am Main, Germany) signed a long-term loan agreement. The allocated funds, which are about 9 million Euros, will be used by BMZ for the project with environmental focus.

The loan will be issued by the bank for a period of 5 years against bank guarantee of JSC "Savings Bank "Belarusbank". The loan will be covered by the export insurance agency "Euler Hermes". It is supposed to finance 85% of the contract for BMZ to buy equipment from German AWAS International GmbH for purification of saline wastewater of the Belarusian companies and achievement of a closed water cycle solution. This project will be implemented in view of the accomplishment of environmental legislation regarding requirements to water supply and disposal.

The need in such a project has appeared in connection with the increase of production capacities of the company after realization of several investment projects, such as reconstruction of continuous casting machine-2, construction of light-section wire mill, reconstruction of secondary metallurgy. The relevant infrastructure is needed to ensure uninterrupted operation of the new facilities, i.e. supply of cooling water, stream, water disposal and recycling.

The construction of the equipment complex is planned for processing of wastewater from industrial processes. The new water-treating facilities will allow recycling 100% of saline wastewater and will provide the closed loop water consumption with supply of purified water back for manufacturing.
