OREANDA-NEWS. A delegation from TENEX, led by the company's General Director Lyudmila Zalimskaya, attended the 3rd Nuclear Industry Summit, which was held in Amsterdam on 24 March 2014.

At the Summit, representatives from the world's leading nuclear companies, various public groups and scientific organisations alongside atomic energy experts discussed what nuclear technology means to contemporary society and the role of the global nuclear industry in enhancing its security.

Summit attendees also issued a Joint Statement at the 3rd Nuclear Security Summit, being held at the same time in the Hague, recognising the need to continue work to boost public confidence in nuclear energy, including by improving corporate governance, enhancing cyber and information security, and strengthening controls over high-activity radioactive sources.

The Joint Statement sets forth the commitments undertaken by the Summit participants, including to implement highest standards of openness and transparency in operations, to promote strong security culture at nuclear industry facilities, and to step up cooperation and exchange of up-to-date practices in the field of nuclear security.

TENEX's General Director Lyudmila Zalimskaya summed up the Summit as an ideal forum for the global nuclear industry's leading companies to share experience and best practice in nuclear security, as well as to develop common approaches to resolving the most pressing issues.

TENEX participated in the two previous summits: held in Washington DC in 2010, and in Seoul in 2012. The next Nuclear Industry Summit will take place in 2016 in the United States.
