The sides noted the importance of intensification of bilateral dialogue, attracting the American investments in the Moldovan economy, the intensification of trade relations between the both countries, enhancing energy security, and discussing the developments in the region and the settlement process of the Transnistrian conflict. Iurie Leanca expressed confidence that the strategic dialogue, which started under his recent visit to the United States, bring bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

"We see this visit as an expression of solidarity, as a sign of continuing friendship and political support between our states. John McCain said that the U.S. will help Moldova in such important for its European path period. "We support you, we believe in you and know that you are going through a difficult period," said U.S. Senator. John McCain is staying in Chisinau for the second time. His first official visit to Moldova was held in 201.

He was accompanied by the senators John Barrasso, John Hoven and Ron Johnson, representing the US Senate committees on foreign relations and on energy and natural resources.
