OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2014. AREVA successfully delivered a biomass power plant to its Thai customer U-Thong Bio Power Co.,Ltd. Built jointly by AREVA and its partner Ensys, this installation is located in the Suphanburi Province in Thailand.

The 9.9 MWe unit is fuelled by rice husk and bagasse and will supply electricity to approximately 8,000 households. Under the contract, AREVA realized the plant design and provided engineering services, and the main equipment. It also supervised the testing and commissioning phases. Ensys, supplied auxiliary equipment and provided construction services.

Adisak Martsri, Director of U-Thong Bio Power, said, “Despite the complexity of such a project, AREVA and Ensys delivered a power plant, which meets all our expectations. The first few weeks of operations, have confirmed the success of the project.”

AREVA Renewables CEO Louis-Francois Durret added: “This facility has reached full capacity and responds perfectly to our customer’s requirements. It clearly demonstrates AREVA’s commitment to safety and quality. This success is the result of the flawless collaboration of all stakeholders involved throughout the project.”

AREVA has already delivered two similar biomass plants in Thailand, and is currently building two additional units both in Thailand and the Philippines.
