OREANDA-NEWS. The Petrozavodskaya CHPP of JSC TGC-1 - the strategic enterprise of the capital of Karelia heat supply system - in accordance with the decision of the Head of Petrozavodsk switched to the regular heating mode.

Power engineers of TGC-1 are performing the operations for switching the main heating grids - during the day the heat will be supplied to the social institutions, kindergartens, schools and hospitals.

From September 25 the heating season for residential areas of Petrozavodsk will begin.

In the course of preparation for the winter heating period of 2014-2015, the power engineers of TGC-1 conducted the first phase of the large-scale renovation of the heating grids in the city center - from the pavilion No. 3 of the Shotman Street and 9, Studencheskiy Lane to the corner of the Anokhina Street and the Lenina Prospect.

The section of the pipeline on the Anokhina Street under modernization is of fundamental social importance - the reliable and uninterrupted heat supply to more than 50% of Petrozavodsk consumers depends on its renovation. Replacement of pipes was performed with increase of the diameter, which will significantly improve the hydraulic control of the heating grids.

It has to be recalled, that the modernization of the heating grids on the Anokhina Street is a part of a comprehensive programme for the development of the heating grid infrastructure of the city: in 2007 JSC TGC-1 began the comprehensive modernization of the heating grids. In 2009, the renovation of a 1,138 meter section of double-pipe transit pipeline along the Komsomolskiy Prospect was completed. In 2011, a 1,616 meter section of double-pipe along the Vedlozerskaya Street was commissioned. The work on these two sites involved increasing pipe diameter and installing modern foam polyethylene-insulated pipes. As part of the programme for the modernization of heating grids in Petrozavodsk RUB 581 mln. were spent.
