OREANDA-NEWS. NEC Corporation announced that Kaoru Kenyoshi, Senior Standard Expert, NEC Europe Ltd. has been re-appointed to the Board of Directors of ETSI, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, during their 64th General Assembly held in Sophia Antipolis, France. Mr. Kenyoshi has served on ETSI's Board of Directors for three years from 2012.

ETSI's General Assembly is the Institute's highest decision-making body, which meets twice a year to discuss issues that include strategy, operations and financial affairs. The 64th General Assembly was attended by 182 individuals from 41 countries. The Assembly's primary goals included deciding the future strategy of ETSI, concluding external relations and co-operation agreements with other standards bodies and discussing such topics as development and promotion of M2M and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). The General Assembly also reappointed NEC's Kaoru Kenyoshi to ETSI's Board of Directors, which consists of 29 members representing a wide range of organizations that include service providers, telecom vendors, government agencies and user organizations.

ETSI is composed of European and global service providers and vendors, as well as regulators and administrations. The organization pursues global level standardization and its standards have been adopted in such domains as GSM, 3GPP and Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB).

As a member of ETSI, NEC capitalizes on its experience in developing network products and conducting research and development of new technologies to take a leading position in the advancement of standardization. NEC's communications equipment based on these global standards help to drive the expansion and advancement of communication network technologies and network services throughout the world.
