OREANDA-NEWS. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Prakash Singh Badal called on the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot here today. Shri Vijay Sampla, Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment was also present on the occasion. Both the sides were accompanied by their senior officials. 

Shri Gehlot apprised Shri Badal of various schemes of the Ministry. He informed the Chief Minister that the expansion of Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) has been approved for nine new States. Punjab is one of the States selected for the expansion of PMAGY. The Scheme will be implemented in 100 SC-majority (having >50% SC population) villages of Punjab. The State Government has been requested to forward the letter of acceptance so that initial instalment of funds could be released to it. In this connection, an orientation meeting is also planned to be held on 10th March in the Ministry at New Delhi.

The Chief Minister, Punjab was also informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Centre for Disability Sports at Zirakpur in Punjab was under formulation. The process of selection of Consultants has been initiated.

Shri Gehlot assured the Chief Minister of all possible cooperation and stated that his Ministry would make all efforts to release the admissible funds under the existing schemes.
