OREANDA-NEWS.  Against a backdrop of recent and historic racing footage, Chevrolet’s dominance in NASCAR is highlighted in a new TV spot debuting during Sunday’s Daytona 500.

The 60-second spot – dubbed Back in Black for its rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack – calls out the depth and breadth of Chevy’s winning legacy:

  • 738 NASCAR wins – including the last four races of 2014
  • 38 NASCAR manufacturer titles – including the last 12 consecutive titles
  • 29 driver championships – including back-to-back champs in 2013 and 2014
  • 23 Daytona 500 wins – including back-to-back wins in 2013 and 2014, for a 40-percent win rate over the history of the Great American Race.

“Chevrolet was the most awarded brand in the past year and it’s the most successful brand in the history of NASCAR,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet. “This new spot shines a light on that heritage and reinforces our commitment to building great vehicles and our continued support for a truly American sport.”

Another NASCAR-themed TV spot featuring Dale Earnhardt Jr. – the defending Daytona 500 champion – and his longtime relationship with Chevy Silverado also debuts during the race this Sunday. In it, Earnhardt drives the back roads of North Carolina in a new Silverado, sharing his experience over the years with Chevy trucks and the Small Block V-8 engines that have powered them – and his early race cars.

“These spots speak to the core of loyal Chevrolet customers and other automotive enthusiasts, reaching them with images and context they understand like no other audience,” said Sweeney.

The new advertising spots will run throughout the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

Chevrolet starts the season with Jeff Gordon on the pole for the 57th running of the Daytona 500, and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson on the inside of the front row. Gordon is a three-time winner of the series’ most prestigious race and Johnson has won it twice.

Chevrolet SS driver Kevin Harvick returns to Daytona as the reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion.
