OREANDA-NEWS. SSEPD has worked with Off Grid Energy to develop a battery/generator combination unit, that’s a similar idea to a hybrid vehicle.

The battery element will provide energy to a property when the demand is low. As the demand increases or the battery requires recharging, then the diesel generator will kick in. Over night power will generally be provided by the battery, significantly reducing noise and C02 emissions through a shorter generator run time.

The hybrid generator will soon be deployed into SSEPD’s generator fleet, and be used as our first choice generator. Future Networks are delighted to announce that the hybrid generator, was selected as a finalist at the UK Energy Innovation Awards 2015, in the category of best Environmental Impact Award. The results will be announced on 30 April 2015.
