OREANDA-NEWS. The international conference “Nuclear Energy on the Liberalized Energy Market: Technology, Financing, Planning” organized by the Bulgarian Energy and Mining Forum, along with the Energy Management Institute (EMI) was held on the 26th and 27th of March in Sofia with the support of the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy. 

The forum hosted representatives of the Bulgarian government, the European Parliament and leading international companies, such as CEZ, the Chinese State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) and others. 

In his speech, the regional Vice-President of the company Rusatom – International Network and head of Rosatom Central Europe, Vadim Titov noted that nowadays ROSATOM has a leading position in the fields of world nuclear energy. He also remarked that the company’s budget for international orders exceeds 100 billion dollars. The major part of this budget is linked to contracts of building NPPs in foreign countries. Currently, the corporation possesses signed and guaranteed contracts for 29 units in Europe, the Middle East and the Asian-Pacific ocean region. 

In his presentation, Vadim Titov talked about contemporary tendencies of the world market of nuclear energy, within which a key issue is the requirements on the deliverer regarding the indicators of the price of the kWh electrical energy to be produced by the future NPP. “ROSATOM includes enterprises from all stages of the NPP’s life cycle, starting with the delivery and the enrichment of Uranium, and ending with the decommissioning of the plant. Consequently, we can control the value of every single stage of production and, of course, the price of kWh electricity energy, produced by our NPPs”, Titov said. 

Besides, a key asset of Rosatom is the experience of the company in the area of serial taking into operation of NPP’s units nowadays. He also underlined the past 5 years, during which Rosatom has taken into exploitation 5 units, 2 of which are the 1st unit in Kudankulam NPP in India and Busher NPP in Iran. Both of them have been acclaimed as projects of the year by the magazine Power Engineering (US).

In her greeting, Bulgarian Minister of Energy Mrs. Temenuzhka Petkova noted the highly relevant for the Bulgarian energy sector project for modernization of Units 5 and 6 of Kozloduy NPP, undertaken by ROSATOM. She underlined the fact that the expansion of the NPP’s exploitation life is in accordance with the established schedule.   

Victor Cherni, project manager in CEZ, said that the current version of the National plan for the development of Czech nuclear energy includes the construction of new energy units on the NPPs Temelin and Dukovany.

For the two days of the conference, it was attended by more than 150 participants from Europe, Russia, China and the USA.
