OREANDA-NEWS. Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC; Representative Director and President, Mr. Kosei Shindo) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, S.A.S. (headquartered in Toulouse, France; President and CEO, Mr. Fabrice Bregier) to expand collaboration in titanium and steel products. This MOU is focused on long-term business development related to the development and supply of titanium and steel products between NSSMC and Airbus.

NSSMC began supplying pure titanium sheets to Airbus in 1997 and has supplied the majority of commercially pure(CP) titanium sheets used by Airbus based on a long-term agreement since 2002. In January 2015, the supply agreement on CP titanium sheets was extended for five years. By signing this new MOU, NSSMC will promote business expansion and research activities related to titanium and steel materials with Airbus.

NSSMC has constantly supplied high-quality products supported by its accumulated technologies and expertise as a steelmaker, and has won high acclaim over many years from Airbus as a reliable supplier. Titanium is a material with various functions, namely, excellent lightness, strength and anti-corrosion properties. NSSMC will continue to strive to contribute to society by supplying competitive, high-quality materials in various fields including aircraft.
