OREANDA-NEWS. Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Takashi Tsukioka; hereinafter, the "Company") hereby announces that it will consolidate the production of polycarbonate resin, TARFLON, into Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation (hereinafter "FCFC"), a core firm of Taiwan´s Formosa Group to which the Company has granted a license to use the relevant technology.

The Company has decided to cease operation of polycarbonate production facility at its Chiba Plant (Ichihara City, Chiba) in December 2015 and consolidate the production carried out by the plant into FCFC.

Granted a license by the Company, FCFC has been engaged in production of polycarbonates since 2002. Meanwhile, the Company has transferred since 2013 such production from its Chiba Plant to FCFC in a phased manner. The scheduled consolidation of the production of a special grade of polycarbonates into FCFC means that all grades of the Company´s polycarbonates will be produced by FCFC.

FCFC´s polycarbonate production facility is located at the Formosa Group´s Mai-Liao Complex in Yun Lin County, Taiwan. Supported by stable raw material supply and with production capacity of 200 thousand tons, FCFC is one of the most competitive polycarbonate manufacturers in Asia.

Through the planned consolidation, the Company will sharpen competitive edge of TARFLON and strive to provide a more stable supply of polycarbonates to not only Japan but also all over the world.
