OREANDA-NEWS. E.ON Russia has commissioned Berezovskaya GRES Unit 3. The new 800 MW steam lignite unit has passed successfully the certification tests to confirm 800 MW of installed capacity by the System Operator of Unified Energy System of Russia. E.ON Russia will receive capacity payments for the new unit starting from October, 1.

On September, 22 the test run of Berezovskaya GRES Unit 3 was completed. The unit had run for 72 hours at the nominal load of 800 MW with the power being fed into the unified energy system of Siberia. During the comprehensive tests, the range parameters of the generation equipment were examined.

The tests confirmed the availability of the new unit for generation in accordance with the statement of the Yenisei Office of the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision.

The additional capacity commissioned will enhance the reliability of Siberia's energy system. Customers in the Krasnoyarsk region will become less dependent on hydroelectric power in low-water years.

The construction of a 800 MW steam lignite unit unit at Berezovskaya GRES is the final project of the E.ON Russia investment program. Since 2010, the company has commissioned 2,400 MW of new generation capacity in the Russian Federation.
