OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2015. Farid Abdulganiev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, visited the Nizhnekamsk NPiNHZ Complex to make an on-site inspection of the facilities and overview of the environmental technologies applied in the construction process.

Just at the production facilities, Farid Abdulganiev was familiarized with the eco-friendly design solution of the Complex. Specifically, the refinery processes at the CDU/VDU-7 primary oil refining installation are carried out in sealed pressurized vessels at the excessive pressure and high temperatures; burners with ultra nitrogen oxides generation are used in furnaces; sweetened natural gas and own output hydrocarbon gas are used as fuel for process furnaces. The recovered hydrogen sulphide is sent for recycling to be converted from a potential pollutant into a valuable and marketable product.

The most advanced solutions are implemented for the storage of raw materials, as well as the storage and loading of finished products for transportation by rail and road. So, for example, the storage vessels of light oil products have been 100 percent equipped with floating roof pontoons. The loading racks of light oil products for rail and road tankers loading are equipped with vapor recovery units providing for the recovery efficiency exceeding 99 percent.

The waste treatment facilities of TANECO are the most up-to-date in the Russian Federation.   Minister was informed that that application of such purification methods as separation, ultrafiltration at the membrane bioreactors, adsorption, ultraviolet disinfection allows to reach by an average 90% efficiency of wastewater treatment and by a number of indicators   reaches the level of 99.9%. Farid Abdulganiev was demonstrated the extent of water treatment at all the stages in the laboratory of the treatment facilities.

They provided detailed information to the Minister on the environmental monitoring system. The modern high-tech equipment, including a mobile laboratory, allows the refiners to cover the entire range of investigations contemplated by the Russian and international laws.

Completing the visit Farid Abdulganiev highly praised the environmental activities of PJSC TATNEFT in the implementation of the TANECO project. The Minister emphasized as a positive aspect that an equal focus was made on both economic and environmental issues in the production operations of the Complex. He also pointed out that the Environmental Service of TANECO was working in close contact with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan. This allows simultaneous monitoring all the operating parameters and making appropriate conclusions. Of course, the most positive effect on the environment will be reached not only due to implementation of environmentally friendly production facilities of NPiNHZ Complex, but also due to EURO-5 fuel production, meeting the highest environmental standards.
