OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2015. With blogs experiencing a dramatic increase in popularity in Puerto Rico over the last few years, Ford strengthened its presence at this year’s BloggerCon, Puerto Rico’s premiere convention for digital influencers on the island.

The seventh annual convention, with the theme of Let’s Do It, attracted about 200 bloggers and social media influencers to the University of Turabo Sept. 12 to share their views on a range of topics including technology, environmental conservation and motherhood.

Blogs are considered a primary source for news and information in Puerto Rico. BloggerCon is the only event on the island held solely for bloggers, who attend presentations and workshops on various aspects of the blogosphere.

“Participating in BloggerCon enables us to efficiently reach across the spectrum of the blogging community,” said Lorraine Urdaz, Communications and Public Affairs manager, Caribbean and Central America. “Attendees have varied interests and audiences, and being affiliated with this event helps us communicate the Ford story to more people.”

Among the topics this year was “How to be a Successful Partner of YouTube,” led by the channel’s manager of strategic alliances, and “Brand/Blog Partnerships in a MultiChannel World,” which looked at the constantly changing expectations of both brands and blogs.

Ford Puerto Rico also sponsored the Blogger of the Year award, which was presented at the event. The winner was determined by a vote of blog followers. This year the award went to Stephanie Li Rivera, who expressed her gratitude online to followers of her blog, The Shoppinista. “To all my ‘Shoppinista’ family: thank you for nominating me and making me the 2015 Blogger of the Year #BlogueroPR15, awarded by @FordPuertoRico. I am committed to continuing delivering the message for smart shopping and event better savings.”
