OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2015.  The meeting began with a warm welcome speech delivered by Tallinn University of Technology’s (TUT) Vice Rector Tea Varrak, followed by the video introduction of Shandong University of Science & Technology (SDUST) and presentation of TUT’s Department of Mining, as well as Oil Shale Summer School 2016.

Prof Tan from SDUST also talked about current research projects conducted by College of Mining and Safety Engineering.

The meeting continued with a discussion on the possible research cooperation in the field of mining engineering, economics, and business administration. With research backgrounds in mathematics, management science and engineering, Vice President Liu and Prof Tan took great interests in TUT’s Department of Mining and exchanged several research ideas with representatives from Faculty of Power Engineering and School of Economics and Business Administration.

Associate Professor of mining Veiko Karu gave guided tour in mining museum as well as the exhibition “Estonian Energy System”. In TUT Innovation and Business Centre Mektory Rasmus Reino gave a brief tour, introducing the history, structure and activities of Mektory.

The delegation was impressed by the internationalization scale of TUT, and wished to establish cooperation in terms of student and scholar exchange, as well as research cooperation between two universities.

Delegation members included: Vice President Prof Liu Xinmin, Prof Zeng Qingliang, Dean of Graduate School Prof Tan Yunliang, Dean of College of Mining and Safety Engineering, and Li Wu, International Office’s International Programme Manager.
