OREANDA-NEWS. Indonesian petrochemical producer Chandra Asri plans to shut down its polypropylene (PP) plant at Cilegon in west Java for maintenance starting in mid-November.

All three PP lproduction lines, with a total capacity of 480,000 t/yr, are expected to be shut for 12 days starting on 15 November.

Chandra Asri's cracker is currently having a 90-day maintenance and debottlenecking until the end of the year. As well as propylene supplies from Indonesian state-owned oil firm Pertamina, it also relies on spot purchases. Chandra Asri is one three spot buyers of propylene in Indonesia, along with acrylic acid producer Nippon Shokubai Indonesia and oxo-alcohol producer Petro Oxo Nusantara.
