OREANDA-NEWS. The third generation of Honda Pilot, the debut of which is scheduled in the Russian market, will receive an adapted engine, a new automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system Intelligent iVTM-4.

As the press service of "Honda Motor Rus" informed, the car will be offered the Russian buyers with V6 PI VTEC engine 3.0 liter from the family of Earth Dreams Technology. The new power unit will receive a system of variable cylinder management VCM, which, in tandem with a system of variable valve timing, electronically controlled, works on the principle of the use of power at different cruising speeds and electrically deactivates cylinders to reduce fuel consumption. Depending on the speed, path length and other factors, the engine may operate on 3, 4 or 6 cylinders.

In the new generation of VCM it was succeeded to increase the phase of the system work, to improve the performance of friction and combustion. Thus, the engine has excellent traction for sudden acceleration and movement on a hilly area at a moderate and economical mode of driving. Fuel consumption in the urban cycle will be less than in the previous generation - 14.3 liters of 92 octane gasoline, against 15.8 at the second-generation model. In the extra-urban cycle it was also managed to reduce the consumption to 8.2 liters. In the combined cycle the average consumption will be 10.4 liters per 100 kilometers. Acceleration to 100 km / h takes 9.1 sec., which is better by 0.8 seconds than the dynamics of the current version (9.9 seconds).

Especially for the Russian market the capacity of the power unit will be 249 hp, which should attract potential buyers. In addition, the model will be aggregated with new 6-speed automatic transmission with electronically controlled torque converter.

In addition, all 8-seater Pilot crossovers for the Russian market will be equipped with intelligent all-wheel drive with thrust vector control iVTM-4 that provides to choose several driving modes: standard, riding through the mud, sand and snow.
