OREANDA-NEWS. Leading European bank appoints Michael Fredlund to head up their new Swedish office.

ING today opens its new representative office in Stockholm as part of its global organic growth strategy. The Sweden opening further enhances the bank’s expertise across the Nordic region, which is also served with a Nordic desk in Brussels.

To oversee the expansion, ING has appointed Michael Fredlund as Head of its Swedish Representative Office. Fredlund brings extensive experience from the Nordic and international banking sector: having graduated from Uppsala University’s International Business Program, he went on to hold senior roles over more than 15 years with ABN AMRO Bank, Handelsbanken and most recently Danske Bank, where he was Head of Large Corporate Clients.

As one of the leading international banks active in the Nordic region, ING has built a strong top-tier corporate client base, serving many of the region’s largest companies. ING’s new office in Stockholm will support existing and new Swedish clients with the comprehensive product offering of ING that includes lending, transaction banking, financial markets and corporate finance services.

Michael Fredlund, Head of The Swedish Representative Office commented, “Sweden has a highly sophisticated and international financial environment, making Stockholm an excellent strategic location for ING to expand its presence. Economic activity in Sweden rebounded strongly after the recession in ’08 – ’09 and has grown faster than most major European economies”.

“ING has local presence and strong capabilities in many countries relevant for Swedish multinational companies. ING is also known in the region for its in-depth sector expertise and analytical capabilities, which can help them determine the right financing solutions in leading sectors such as natural resources, transport and logistics, automotive, telecommunications, utilities and infrastructure.”
