OREANDA-NEWS. In what can be described as another feather in their cap, Omani based TMK GIPI has been awarded for the supply of steel pipes with three layer polyethylene external and liquid epoxy internal coating for Muscat Sohar Pipeline Project (MSPP). A first-of-its-kind in the Sultanate in partnership with Orpic, the project will connect Orpic’s existing Mina al Fahal refinery with refineries in Sohar, Oman as well as the Jifnain Terminal.

The two-way, multi-product pipeline will be 290kms long and will enable Orpic to eliminate its reliance on above-ground methods for transportation of oil products.

Orpic’s MSPP project is divided into three key sections - MAF- Jifnain Terminal which is about 40kms long and will use 10 inch pipeline, Jifnain Terminal- Airport which is about 30kms long and will also use 10 inch pipeline and Sohar- Jifnain Terminal which will be a whopping 220kms long and will use an 18 inch pipeline. As per the approved standard, all pipes will encompass 3LPE coating with a total order of around 32K tonnes of pipeline to be used in the entire project.

Vladimir I Shcherbatykh, CEO, TMK GIPI said, “This is one of the most crucial projects for us and for Orpic as well. It is going to be a challenging project because we will have to put all our resources into it and being the first of its kind in the Sultanate it is even more so. We are confident of our capabilities and the faith the Orpic management have bestowed upon us. As always, we will try to complete the project on time with utmost regard to health and safety standards.”
