Second NYH floating storage vessel redirected

OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2015. A vessel originally used for storage in New York Harbor has been redirected to carry diesel to Europe, as the second charterer abandoned floating storage in the area.

The Chinese-flagged Hua Lin Wan was chartered to store 80,000t of ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) since it ballasted from Europe to New York Harbor about a month ago. The same charterer has sent the cargo to Rotterdam this past weekend, making it the second vessel to fail as floating storage in New York Harbor.

The Marshall Islands-flagged Iris Victoria was booked around mid-October to serve as floating storage in New York Harbor. About a week later the vessel was redirected to the Gulf coast. She ballasted into Garyville, Louisiana, over the weekend and will load ULSD to Morocco.

ULSD inventories on the Atlantic coast slipped to 44.8mn bl as of 30 October, down from an historic record at 47.7mn bl in mid October but still near all-time highs.
