OREANDA-NEWS. December 04, 2015. Over 60 sector leaders shared their concerns and expectations on global trends in road transport and paperless trade, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Transport, H.E. Nikolay Asaul, at the round table “International Road Transport. Challenges and Prospects” held jointly by IRU and the Association of International Road Carriers (ASMAP).

IRU Secretary General, Umberto de Pretto briefed participants on the IRU’s global strategic priorities and main achievements in 2015. Russian road transport operators were particularly interested in the status of the TIR system in Russia and its further expansion in Eurasia.

In the light of the ECMT Quality Charter, which will become effective on 1 January 2016, an active debate on professional qualifications for transport operators and drivers was launched by the IRU Academy and its Russian ATI.

The IRU delegation also took the opportunity to hold fruitful meetings with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Russia, H.E. Vygaudas U?ackas, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of European Businesses (AEB), Dr. Frank Schauff on trade and transport developments across Eurasia.
