OREANDA-NEWS. Led by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, the Company's delegation, paid a visit to China today.

As part of the visit, Alexey Miller met with Zhang Gaoli, First Vice Premier of China's State Council.

The parties addressed the bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. Particularly, they discussed the projects for pipeline gas supplies to China via the eastern and western routes from Russia's Far East. The meeting also paid attention to the future joint actions in the underground storage and power generation areas.

As part of the visit, Alexey Miller met with Wang Yilin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNPC. The meeting looked upon the progress with the project for gas supply to China via the eastern route. The parties confirmed their intention to sign the Agreement on engineering and constructing a cross-border section of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline including the submerged crossing under the Amur River.

CNPC is China's state-owned petroleum company and is one of the world's leading integrated energy companies.

On May 21, 2014 Gazprom and CNPC signed the Sales and Purchase Agreement for the Russian gas supply via the eastern route (Power of Siberia gas pipeline). The 30-year contract provides for gas supplies to China in the amount of 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Yakutia and Irkutsk gas production centers.

On May 8, 2015 Gazprom and CNPC inked the Heads of Agreement for pipeline gas supply from Russia to China via the western route (Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline) in the amount of 30 billion cubic meters of gas a year from Western Siberian fields.

On September 3, 2015 Gazprom and CNPC signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the project for pipeline gas supply to China from the Russian Far East.
