OREANDA-NEWS. In 2015, Ukraine consumed 33.8 bcm of natural gas, a 8.8 bcm or 21% decline compared to 2014 (42.6 bcm).

Gas consumption in market segments where prices are set by the state, decreased by 4.9 bcm (22%) in 2015.

The largest reduction occurred in gas consumption by households with a 3.8 bcm (25%) decline (from 15.1 to 11.3 bcm).

Centralized heat producers used 1.2 bcm of gas less to supply heat to households, a 17% decline from 7.1 to 5.9 bcm.

Gas consumption in unregulated segments has declined by 3.9 bcm (19%) in the past year.

Centralized heat producers used 0.3 bcm of gas less to generate heat for public sector and industrial consumers, a 23% decline from 1.5 to 1.2 bcm.

Gas consumption by other industrial customers decreased by 3.2 bcm (22%) from 14.4 to 11.2 bcm.

Gas usage for the operating needs of gas producers and system operators has declined by 6% from 3.6 to 3.3 bcm. Operating needs of Ukraine's gas transmission system operator Uktransgaz are related to the volume of gas transported from the Russian Federation to the EU and Moldova. In 2015, the transmitted volumes increased by 4.9 bcm (8%) from 62.2 bcm in 2014 to 67.1 bcm in 2015.
