OREANDA-NEWS. St. Petersburg plant Hyundai Motor at the end of January of 2016 restarted the production lines of the company after a large-scale modernization within the preparation to the launch of the new crossover Hyundai Creta. The company will begin the mass production of the new model in the third quarter of 2016. Creta compact crossover will be produced on the same production line of the plant with Hyundai Solaris, according to press service of "Hyundai Motor CIS".

The installed new equipment is now used in the production of current models for the optimization of production processes, as well as to ensure that during the launch of a new model the staff will have already the experience with it. Within the preparation for the launch of Hyundai Creta more than 100 key employees of the production have been trained at Hyundai Motor Company plants in Korea.

As previously reported "AUTOSTAT», Hyundai Company has high hopes with the new crossover Creta due to the strong growth of SUV-B segment in the Russian market. The novelty will be available with engines of 1.6 and 2.0 liters with front and all-wheel drive.

At the end of 2015 St. Petersburg plant "Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus" produced 229,500 cars, which is less by 3.2% than a year ago. Therewith, the production of Hyundai Solaris was 129,400 cars (-2,2%), KIA Rio - 100,1 thousand units (-4.4%). It is worth noting that the last year the company started the production of the updated Rio model.
