OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2016. GE Renewable Energy has been awarded two service contracts. The first was signed with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for the modernization projects of Tri An Hydro Power Plant in Vietnam (4 x 100MW). The second one was signed with Yalong River Hydro Development Company, Ltd. for Ertan Hydro Power Plant in China (6 x 550MW). Both contracts will be managed from GE’s facility in Tianjin, China.

Tri An Hydropower Plant is located on the Dong Nai River, 100km from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. GE’s Hydro industrial site in Tianjin will be responsible for replacing its Control System, Governing System, Excitation and BOP. The scope of the service contract covers equipment design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and trial run. The new digital control system will offer Electricity of Vietnam a more flexible, user friendly and efficient solution to help increase plant efficiency.

Ertan Hydropower plant is located on the downstream of YaLong River, China. It is the largest hydropower project put into service in China in the 20th century. Since the start of operation in 1998, it has helped to minimize the power shortage in Sichuan Province. The scope of the contract covers design, manufacture, onsite assembly and testing, delivery as well as technical supervisions including installation, testing and commissioning of the related equipment. This project is by far the largest unit retrofit project in China.

Yves Rannou, President and CEO of GE’s Hydro business said, “I’m convinced that GE’s global expertise and service solutions will increase the output performance of our customers’ fleets. Winning these two service contracts expands GE’s business scope and further consolidates our leading position in the hydro segment. These 2 sites will be important showcases to feature GE’s second-to-none capability to service hydropower equipment globally.”
