OREANDA-NEWSAs follows from the publication, the Bitriver data center was opened a year ago near the Bratsk Aluminum Plant. Among his clients are representatives of a number of countries, including the USA, Japan and China. According to the agency, the idea of creating a data center in Bratsk belonged to the representatives of the team of businessman Oleg Deripaska. The publication notes that the Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station and the aluminum smelter are owned by En+ Group Plc and its subsidiary United Co. Rusal, which was previously controlled by Deripaska.

Bitriver rents a building next to the Bratsk Aluminum Plant. The city is a suitable place to host a bitcoin farm due to its cheap hydropower, as well as its climate, since low temperatures are favorable for the equipment of a data center, the agency notes. At Bitirver, a team of engineers is engaged in monitoring and daily diagnostics of specialized integrated circuits and power units around the clock. All Bitriver technicians have been trained and certified by the Chinese mining companies Bitmain and Innosilicon.

Now in the data center there are more than 20 thousand devices for mining, as reported in Bitriver, there is an opportunity to increase their number to 67 thousand. En+ delivers up to 100 MW per year to the data center as a way to diversify its customer base and sell surplus energy.
