OREANDA-NEWS   The US President Joe Biden seeks not to interfere with the completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the general line on the formation of a sanctions regime against the Russian Federation during his administration began to partially erode, Valery Garbuzov, director of the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to Hill, GOP Senators Ted Cruise and Mike Lee blocked the swift approval of dozens of candidates for State Department positions. Thus, politicians expressed their protest which they intend to continue until the Biden administration introduces congressional sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

"Biden is in a rather difficult situation regarding Nord Stream 2", - Garbuzov said. According to him, the US President has a desire to meet half-way Germany and not hinder the completion of the gas pipeline, but he is hindered by the well-established American policy of containing Russia with sanctions.

"Of course, the Senate can make some kind of decision which in one way or another can block the actions of the president. He (Biden), if he has the strength and firmness, will somehow resist this," Garbuzov said. Biden will try to negotiate with the senators, he added.
