OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rosnedra and the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies want to create a water testing system to control production at all stages — from the well to delivery to stores, RBC reports.

This decision was made due to the possibility of falsification of water at the packaging stage, which will not be solved by the mandatory labeling of mineral water in the "Honest Sign" system, introduced in the country from December 1.

The system will become an analogue of the Unified State Automated Information System (USAIS), which operates for the alcohol market. In it, the product will be monitored from the stage of production from wells.

Viktor Yevtukhov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, stressed that when the system starts working, the consumer will be able to see a specific well from which bottled water is taken. The changes will affect natural drinking and mineral water, including mineral canteen, therapeutic canteen and therapeutic water.

The authorities have been talking about the problem of the scale of water falsification on the market for many years. In 2019, the speaker of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, claimed that 80 percent of mineral water in stores is counterfeit.
