OREANDA-NEWSOne of the largest manufacturers of medical equipment, the German company Drägerwerk, warned that global demand for mechanical ventilation devices will outstrip supply, despite the fact that this year their production will be quadrupled. This was announced on Monday by the Financial Times.

Ventilation devices play an important role in saving the lives of patients infected with coronavirus. In recent weeks, countries around the world have tried to set up production and buy as many as possible, which has sparked a surge of investor interest. Last year, Drägerwerk sales totaled € 2.9 billion, and since March 12 this year, the company's shares have risen in price by 95%, the newspaper writes.

The head of Drägerwerk questioned the initiative of some governments, in particular the UK and the USA, to attract automobile and other non-core companies to the production of medical equipment.
