OREANDA-NEWS. The State Duma is developing a bill that provides for a doubling of the tax deduction for the purchase of housing, Irek Fayzullin, head of the Ministry of Construction, told TASS. According to him, if the law is adopted, only new buildings can fall under its action.

We are still discussing the extension only to new buildings,” the minister said.

According to him, the increased tax deduction is supposed to apply only to future real estate transactions. At the same time, Fayzullin did not rule out that the Ministry of Construction might evaluate the possibility of extending the innovation to transactions that have already been completed, for which a deduction has not been received.

Currently, the tax deduction for the purchase or construction of housing is 13%. It is calculated from an amount of 2 million rubles, the limit on the repayment of interest on a mortgage is 3 million rubles. That is, the buyer can recover a maximum of 260 thousand rubles for an apartment and up to 390 thousand rubles for a mortgage. The State Duma plans to increase the amount of the deduction to 520,000 rubles, and for the repayment of interest on a mortgage - up to 780,000 rubles.
