OREANDA-NEWS. The State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom and the Baltic Shipyard will sign a contract on August 23 to build two nuclear icebreakers of project 22220. This was reported in the state corporation.

 According to the agency’s interlocutor, on Friday a solemn ceremony of sending the Chukotka floating atomic power unit “Academician Lomonosov.  For this event, it was decided to coincide with the signing of the contract.

 Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that Russia will build three new nuclear icebreakers of the 10510 Leader project.  The official then clarified that the issue of financing the construction was resolved.  The Far Eastern shipbuilding complex Zvezda will create new nuclear icebreakers.  The project also involves other Russian shipbuilding enterprises, including the St. Petersburg Baltic Shipyard.
