OREANDA-NEWS. Russia plans to introduce a quota for grain exports: from January 1 till June 30, 2020, no more than 20 million tons of grain can be sent outside the country.

This is stated in the draft decree of the government. Interlocutors of Vedomosti newspaper report that wheat, rye, barley, oats and corn will fall under the restriction, since these cereals are important for the domestic market. The restriction does not apply to seeds.

It is planned that the Federal Customs Service will implement the decision: it will formalize and control quotas, publish information about them on its website.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture announced the development of a draft enactment on restricting the export of grain from the country, but did not disclose the essence of this measure. It was noted that the document should solve the problem of ensuring food security.
