OREANDA-NEWSRussian agricultural supervision has asked China to tighten control on plant products shipped to Russia. This is stated in the message of the department. On December 16, Russian Agricultural Supervision conducted telephone conversations with the Department of Quarantine of Animal and Plant Products of the Main Customs Administration of the People’s Republic of China.

"Russian agricultural supervision informed the Chinese side about the need to strengthen internal control over plant products shipped to Russia", the report said.

The Russian Agricultural Supervision also reported on the strengthening of quarantine phytosanitary controls on the import of citrus fruits and potatoes from China to Russia. This is due to the repeated detection of quarantine pests in the supplied citrus fruits and potatoes. The Russian department warned Chinese experts that upon repeated detection of quarantine harmful objects in plant products, it reserves the right to introduce temporary restrictions on the supply of citrus and potatoes to the territory of Russia.

As noted in the Russian Agricultural Supervision, representatives of the State Customs Administration of China reported that they are currently investigating these cases, this week, Chinese colleagues will provide the Russian side with their results.
